Youth for Change Apakeqar 2025

There’s something magical about starting an adventure together – new faces, new skills, and a week under the open sky. This year, twelve young participants from different parts of Armenia joined TFC’s technical crew on Apakeqar Mountain, turning a week of hard work into new skills, friendships, and fresh trail.

Before heading into the forest, the group attended a workshop on trailbuilding techniques and tool safety, learning why every step on a trail today matters for tomorrow’s hikers.

For seven days, our campsite became a vibrant little village. Setting up tents, cooking meals, and evenings by the campfire turned into moments of teamwork, laughter, songs, and stories. The camp motto, “Bread and cheese, eat and create,” reflected the spirit of simple joy and shared effort.

Together, a crew of 20:

  • Maintained 1.5 km of the trail section built last year.

  • Built 110 meters of new trail on steep forest slopes.

  • Learned erosion management, drainage construction, and trail safety techniques.

The work was challenging under the hot sun, but shared effort made every swing of the pickaxe lighter. Beyond trailwork, participants learned to live outdoors, manage a campsite, and collaborate as a team.

By the end of the project, bonds were as strong as the trails they built.
