“Youth for Change” Fundraising Campaign by Hovhannes Ispiryan
“Youth for Change” is an educational project for local youth. The goal is youth empowerment and cultural exchange. The program participants join the professional trail building team and international volunteers. Participants have the opportunity to take part in the trail building and marking process and receive training sessions on many different topics.
The Youth For Change program will take place in the Syunik region of Armenia within the “Revival of Ancient Trails in Vorotan Canyon” project. The project's goals are constructing and restoring historic trails that will connect Tatev village with the surrounding four villages of Tandzatap, Khot, Shinuhayr and Bardzravan, passing through the Medieval Tatev Anapat monastic complex, waterfalls, ancient settlements, caves and dazzling landscapes.
Program activities and goals:
Trail building and trail marking training: Train the youth on trail building and trail marking as well as teamwork. The knowledge and skills gained during the training will provide an opportunity for the youth to maintain the trails and participate in the other trail building projects in the future.
Environmental protection training: The goal is to raise awareness of environmental issues and provide lessons that can be used in daily life.
Team building activities: The goal is to create a multicultural environment, cultural and lingual exchange with international volunteers. With an emphasis on team building ecersizes and activities.
Campfire talks on teamwork, history of the region, flora and fauna, sustainable tourism development opportunities and youth leadership.
Location: Vorotan Canyon, Syunik
Duration: 6 weeks with 2-week sessions for every participant
Participants: 12 youth in age 18-26
