Mountain bike Ride for Trails For Change NGO

For our followers in Los Angeles please join us for this Mountain Bike ride/fundraising event!

Hosted by Chris Kostman

Ride to make a difference! Trails For Change (TFC) is a non-profit organization formed in 2017. We are focused on improving the economy of Armenia and Artsakh through the development of trails to increase tourism to the region. Our work is being noticed and tourism to the region is increasing. We have completed many successful projects. Project reports can be found on our blog at

The ride and post-ride party will be hosted by Chris Kostman, the man behind the legendary Badwater Ultramarathon races who got his start in the ultra world as the youngest ever finisher of the Race Across America when he was just 20. Chris joined our mountain bike trip across Artsakh in 2018 - who surprised us and rode a road bike! Chris is now developing a six-day running race in Artsakh which will be held later this summer.

Our co-host is Telma Ghazarian Altoon, AKA “The Armenian Ultrarunner,” a veteran of innumerable ultramarathon and multi-day running races AND who happens to be a world-class chef. (So you know the food spread after the ride will be delicious and massive!) In 2017 Telma ran from Armenia across Artsakh on the Janapar Trail, covering 176 miles in two days, 10 hours. Her guide was Hans Keifer - founder of Trails For Change NGO and a well-known Proffesional Trail Building Contractor and mountain biker - and our third co-host for this very special event.

Please join Chris, Telma, and Hans, along with the entire Trails For Change board, for a great ride and delicious dining experience on behalf of Trails For Change NGO!

There will be two options for the ride.

1. Beginner/intermediate level ride: will go at an easy pace to the Hub Junction then a loop around Eagle Rock and back. It is a 15-mile ride with approximately 2000’ of climbing. The route is all on paved and dirt roads.

See the route here:

2. Advanced option: This is a 26 mile with 3915’ of climbing. It will be a fast-paced ride and will follow the same route to the Hub Junction but then add in Backbone, Rustic and Sullivan Canyons. The route is split between fire roads and single track trails with one short technical trail.
