The Legends Trail is a new network of trails in Syunik in southern Armenia. The program was developed between 2018 and 2021 by People In Need Armenia and ARK Armenia with the financial support of the European Union. Before our collaboration with the above mentioned partners some parts of the route had been marked and maintained in 2019 and 2020. Yet more stages and several side routes have been built, maintained and signposted by TFC team. The Legends Trail forms part of the Transcaucasian Trail. Intended work during 2020-2021 was: ● selection of the final trail design in a few not yet finalized segments of the already scouted/ marked/ mapped area on Legends trail in Syunik region ● identification and coordination of a team of field workers and volunteers working on the trail; ● update of the provided schedule of directional signage at all appropriate junctions, including specifications per current Armenian governmental standards; ● installation of the signage at various junctions in Goris area; ● identification of necessary service providers; ● coordination and supervision of all related field work ● complete and improve the quality of blazing and signpost installation in both Goris and Kapan parts of the trail in order to ensure the highest possible standards as well as unified quality of both segments of the trail; ● ensure all identified safety & accessibility shortcomings are addressed; ● collaborate with PIN’s mapmaker to address any questions related to the collected data; ● provide technical trail-making expertise and support to project staff and volunteers; ● maintain, inventory and purchase tools, materials and supplies needed for crews and volunteers to complete trail projects while following PIN procurement procedures. ● maintain a collaborative relationship with project staff, partners, lead volunteers, and subcontractors to ensure the smooth operation of crews and trail projects.
